Mystic Splendor

Sunday morning I was driving down the pavement that leads to the exit from the old Ram's Hill. "Whoa!" I swerved rapidly to my left, avoiding a slithering 4 foot long, very fat and healthy rattlesnake. He, like many chickens, survived crossing the road. It was 108 degrees by 11:00 that morning and I assume he was headed for the shade of a desert tree that was part of the Montesoro landscape.

Or, maybe he just wanted to remind me that this was his home, and bid me a safe journey.

I attended the DC member's event that was planned by Jenna. Okay, I made the decision at the very last minute! I really had no intention of going back to the desert, at least not this time.

I appreciate the time and energy that goes into the planning and execution of such a trip, and am very grateful to the leader/planner! Thanks Jenna, it was a great adventure into silence!

Every moment is new, and every desert trip is a 'new' adventure into the nagual, the unknown. This trip was very quiet. Why? Who knows. It just was.

Jenna led us deep into the wash. The first stop was filled with darkness. The only light was sky high, where planets shone and stars twinkled. We sat in silence, Jenna said very little, except to remember how this place felt.

I thought, as she spoke, the only thing going on here, for me, is absorption and dissolution. I had scanned the circle of 6, and no one was solid. Everyone had shifted from matter to lightwaves. It was very beautiful.

Then we slipped on our backpacks, or fanny packs, and followed Jenna further into the wash, stepping single file with our second attention. The darkness was complete, the starry skies tried to distract our walking meditation, and sometimes I stumbled because the stars were too tempting.

As we rounded a bend I was just absolutely blown away! There, perched slightly above the eastern horizon was an almost full, very orange solstice moon. The sky was painted in varient oranges and golds, and the moonscape against the stark desert wash and low distant mountains ushered me into another reality.

We sat and watched the moon rise, and again, for a long long time we sat in silence. This, for me, was a moment of mystical splendor. The shift in awareness took me to power, who was willing to open her magic and secrets. The language of mysticism is personal and that is why we call it secret. WE have to decipher each incredible experience.

We stayed there, in that mindscape for who knows how long, and then students asked teachers questions, teacher asked teachers questions, and then we walked a short distance to a beach in the desert night. It was light and happy, and I believe Jenna chose that happy spot so that we could have some time to digest the power of the unknown.

After a short meditation, we reversed our direction, and left the wash. The walk was filled with the pieces and the whole. We were a group of seekers, bidding for power that would lead to freedom

And the next night, that is another story!.
